AARP Launches Zope-powered Site; AARP Webplace Content Managed by Zope

FREDERICKSBURG, Va., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Zope Corporation, the leader in open source content management and the developers of Zope®, the leading open source web application server, is partnering with AARP to deliver their next generation of content management for use on their member-focused website, AARP Webplace, at http://www.aarp.org.

Zope Corporation worked with AARP to implement a Content Management System (CMS) which changes the way they publish content on AARP Webplace. Site layout is controlled in a WYSIWYG ('what you see is what you get') manner, allowing content to automatically fill the layout on demand. Zope is the leading product allowing designers and programmers to work on the same pages/sections, without interfering with each other's work. This is accomplished through the use of Zope Page Templates (ZPT), a unique technology pioneered by Zope Corporation.

Zope Corporation delivered a content producer's work area, creating a personalized filtered view for the entire content repository. From that "workspace," all workflow relating to content or layout is initiated.

"Zope Corporation delivered a system that has really improved the way we manage our web content," said Beth Mazur, Manager of Web Development at AARP. "They worked with us to customize Zope to meet our special needs to publish content, given our tiered development platform and unique network environment. We're using Zope Corporation's Zope Replication Server (ZRS) product to ensure the timely controlled migration of data to our production servers."

"Working with the team at AARP has been a wonderful, collaborative experience for us," said Rob Page, CEO of Zope Corporation. "They welcomed CMS best practices, and helped push us to deliver a new solution for this type of media property."
