xSides Corporation, a Leading Software Innovator in Communications and Display Technology, Signs License Agreement With Broadcom

SEATTLE, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- xSides Corporation, a leader in communications and display technology, announced today that Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM - news), the leading provider of integrated circuits enabling high speed broadband communications, closed a comprehensive agreement for the development, license and distribution of specialized products combining key Broadcom and xSides technologies, including Broadcom's proprietary Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technologies.

The patented xSides technology (U.S. patent number 6,018,332) enables the continuous display of interactive content, applications and graphics on the personal computer or operating system-enabled TV screen, outside of the traditional operating system display area.

``The combination of xSides' display technology and Broadcom's broadband technologies will further empower end users by providing them direct access to appliances that were previously unavailable to the operating system,'' said Dr. Henry T. Nicholas III, President and CEO of Broadcom and an xSides board member. ``This combination will enable both companies to better serve our customers who are engaged in the highly competitive Internet services, content and VoIP markets. xSides' complementary market focus will further strengthen Broadcom's market penetration and result in a new platform that will alter the way users think about and use their personal computers and set top boxes, opening up new revenue streams for both companies.''

``The completion of the comprehensive agreement with Broadcom is a critical step for xSides in our effort to take our core technology to the next level by incorporating it with key Broadcom technologies,'' said Robert Steinberg, Chairman and CEO of xSides Corporation. ``The xSides-Broadcom partnership will be a lightening rod in opening the computer and other displays to cutting edge technologies that were previously afforded second-class status.''
