OK, so I never heard of Snuffy Walden before your comment. Of course, having looked him up, clearly, I've heard tons of his music from all of the shows/movies he's written for.

Purely randomly, I just listened to Love Unspoken. It's gorgeous. The only complaint I would have is that there isn't enough guitar in it. ;-) That said, in that one song, he's very reminiscent of Earl Klugh, who has been at the top of my all-time listening list for the past 30 years!

I listened to two more (Once and Again, and Angela Smiled) and he's most definitely my style, thanks very much.

I checked out two YouTube videos by Wes King where he was just "fooling around", but his guitar talent was completely obvious on both. I'm now listening to Excavate, absolutely beautiful song (lyrics as well as guitar playing). He's awesome. Thanks for this as well! :-)

As for seeing Keaggy live, unfortunately, not yet, because he hasn't passed anywhere near me since I discovered him (only too recently).

In addition to thanking you for introducing me to the above two guys, when I was watching the Wes video, I noticed two related videos for one of my favorite guitarists from my youth, Jose Feliciano. Here are the two links.

First, one which isn't as musical, but shows that his fingers are faster than the speed of light:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOs1HC29zh4

This one is more traditional. Roughly 1/2 way through (at the 1:20 mark), he starts playing one handed. Holy cow:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFvqmIi9Ymc

Thanks again Bobby!

Checkout Snuffy Walden playing some fingerstyle hymns. Also some of Wes King's early music. He is quite a fingerstylist and has a lot of Keaggy sounds.
Have you seen Keaggy in concert? You gotta go to one of his acoustic concerts. His wizardry with acoustic guitars and his loop station are incredible!

BobbyG

OK, for being first, and for being easy to deliver to, and for being special, and for being part of a special family who might listen too, the "contest" is officially over. I'll bring the CD down on Super Bowl weekend. :-)

Hi Hadar,

I don't know Phil Keaggy, but I'd enjoy having his CD knowing you're a fan and to expand my reportoire of music appreciation. I might also share it with Bob!

Am I the first one up on Saturday (6:30 am) to read your blog?
