Thanks for taking the time to let me (and everyone else) know this. It would be great if the signs made that clear (or clearer, if I just missed it). The meters across the street from the supermarket (one block east of the municipal garage) seemed to say maximum of one hour, with no limitation of time of day.

Even the meters in the municipal garage themselves had no obvious limit on when money needed to be put in.

As for the cops, I was there for David Bromberg, which was also sold out, and there were no cops that night. At best, that’s inconsistent.

In any event, I will pay better attention next time, and bring change just in case.

Just so you know, meter parking in Peekskil is only in effect until 6 p.m. Also, Joan’s show was on a Monday. On weekends meter parking is not in effect.
As for cops blocking off the whole block, my understanding is that it’s done for crowded shows in order to protect pedestrians who come to the theater from various directions and don’t use crosswalks.

I really want to believe that her throat is a short-term issue (for Joan’s sake primarily, but for the rest of us as well). There’s no doubt that she wasn’t comfortable, drinking nearly non-stop between numbers.

I really want to believe your assessment of Jerusalem, and my wife definitely agrees with you. I realized when writing it that it was very defensive, so I’ll take it on faith that you are correct, and I’ll feel better about it right away.

I also agree with your assessment that Joan is as good a human being as you could hope for. I didn’t realize that Obama was her first endorsement ever. Clearly, she isn’t the first person to feel that way about him (Oprah being a very good example).

Nice review, even if you ARE objective about her
As a lifelong adoring fan I can’t be.
I saw her the last concert (Englewood) before her cancellations, as her throat was starting to give her trouble… I noticed her working the foot pedal tuner on the floor. Perhaps the Korg http://www.korg.com/gear/info.asp?a_prod_no=DT10
About “Jerusalem” – To me it was clear that “All the Children of Abraham” are the Jews, Christians, AND Muslims, all Abrahamic, all involved in Jerusalem. An idealistic, quixotic, utopian dream, purely pacifist. Steve Earle is relatively new to me, but Joan is not, and she has always stood equally for all the oppressed, and been unafraid to call any and every oppressor to task. Her endorsement for Obama is the first she has ever made in her life, and transcends partisanism, as she always has.
